A delivery rider who was spotted in a video clearing traffic barriers blown by the wind towards the middle of a busy roundabout in Dubai has been honoured by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation.
Waqas Sarwar is seen getting off his motorcycle and dragging the barriers away from the path of oncoming motorists.
The Pakistani national, who has been living in the UAE for 12 years, said he wasn't aware that somebody was filming him.
"I just wanted to do the right thing. If I spot the blocks and drive way, then I saved myself, but if other drivers didn't see them, they could meet with an accident," Waqas explained.
The video of his good deed went viral and captured the attention of the Ministry. Khalil Al Khoori, Undersecretary for Human Resources Affairs received Waqas in his office and honoured him.
