UAE suspends issuing new work permits

WAM

The UAE has temporarily halted issuing all types of labour permits, including those for drivers and domestic workers.

According to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, the only exceptions are intra-corporate transfers and Expo 2020 Dubai permits.

The directive, which came into effect on Thursday, is valid until further notice.

The ministry said the decision has been taken in coordination with the National Emergency and Crisis and Disasters Management Authority.

It's part of the country's precautionary measures against COVID-19.
