The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) has introduced the Satgate project in partnership with the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC), marking a significant leap in leveraging satellite and AI technologies for maritime enhancement.

The project aims to revolutionise ship tracking, sea condition monitoring, and weather forecasting to bolster the UAE's global maritime hub status.

The main objectives include establishing a comprehensive database of ships visiting UAE ports and ensuring maritime facility and coastal security by tracking vessels lacking standard tracking devices.

Scheduled within the 2023-2024 performance agreements, Satgate aligns with national priorities, emphasizing technological innovation to drive growth and development across sectors.

Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, underscored its role in enhancing maritime security, elevating competitiveness in the national maritime sector, and attracting global investments.

Chairman of MBRSC, Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, highlighted the project's significance in advancing the UAE's vision of sustainable development through advanced technology. He emphasised its role in reinforcing the nation's stature as a prominent maritime centre.
