UAE carriers extends Saudi flight cancellations

Shuttershock

Etihad Airways and flydubai have both extended their flight cancellations to Saudi Arabia until October 24 due to the regional disruption.

Etihad has cancelled all flights to Riyadh, Dammam and Jeddah.

The airline apologised for the disruption, adding that "the situation remains dynamic and further changes are possible".

Etihad said its teams are helping affected passengers rebook their travel, and that the safety of guests and crew is its top priority. Passengers are advised to check their flight status on its official website.

Meanwhile flydubai has cancelled flights to a number of Saudi destinations, including Abha, Dammam and Riyadh, up to and including October 24.

“Due to the ongoing situation, we expect some disruption to our scheduled operations to Saudi Arabia,” a flydubai spokesperson told ARN News.

The airline said it is monitoring the situation closely and will update customers through its official channels.

UAE carriers began cancelling flights to Saudi Arabia after an attack on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport on October 10. Saudi Arabia’s civil aviation authority said 12 people were killed and 309 injured in the attack.

The authority later extended the suspension of operations at the airport following repeated attacks.
