The UAE has responded to an appeal by the United Nations refugee agency to send much needed aid to migrants in Greece. It’s airlifting humanitarian relief supplies from UNHCR’s stockpile in Dubai to Lesbos, where thousands of refugees and asylum seekers are currently staying. The emergency aid comes at a critical time, as harsh winter conditions in parts of Europe threaten many lives. UNHCR says this year alone, sea arrivals in Greece have surpassed the half-million mark.
