The Dubai Department of Economic Development (DED) has joined hands with Louis Vuitton Malletier to fight counterfeiting and protect intellectual property rights (IPR) in the emirate. Part of the agreement involves providing the fashion house with receipts of fake Louis Vuitton products that the DED has seized, in order to trace their origins. The French firm is the first luxury brand to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the department. The move is seen as part of the emirate's efforts to position itself as a premiere shopping destination and support major brands.
